Highlights

The Highlights workspace is where you capture meaningful moments — achievements, milestones, experiences, and memories worth remembering. Each highlight carries an importance level so you can distinguish everyday wins from life-changing events.

Think of Highlights as your personal hall of fame. When you look back months or years from now, these are the entries that tell the story of what mattered most.

Purpose

Highlights are designed for moments that stand out from your daily routine:

  • Achievements — Completed a project, hit a fitness goal, shipped a feature
  • Milestones — Birthdays, anniversaries, promotions, graduations
  • Experiences — A concert that moved you, a conversation that changed your thinking
  • Gratitude moments — Times you felt especially thankful or lucky
  • Small victories — Overcame a fear, handled a difficult situation well

Metadata

Highlights have one unique metadata field beyond the shared fields (title, content, tags, people, date):

Importance Level

Rate each highlight by how significant it is:

LevelWhen to UseExamples
HighLife-changing or rare eventsGot promoted, bought a house, had a child
MediumNotable moments worth rememberingGreat dinner with friends, finished a book, personal best at the gym
LowSmall wins and everyday positivesGood coffee, nice weather walk, compliment from a stranger

Set the importance level from the metadata dropdown on the Write page. It defaults to no selection, so you can leave it unset if you prefer.

Don’t overthink importance levels. They are a rough filter, not a precise ranking. The goal is to make it easier to find your biggest moments when browsing later.

Creating a Highlight

You can also go directly to /write?type=highlight.

Write Your Entry

Describe the moment. Use #tags for context and @mentions for people involved.

Finally finished the marathon today! 26.2 miles in 4:12:33. Months of training with @Coach-Mike paid off. The last 6 miles were brutal but the crowd energy at mile 20 carried me through. #running #marathon #achievement #fitness

Use Cases

Tracking Achievements

Record accomplishments as they happen so you never forget them:

Shipped v2.0 of the product today. Six months of work with @Alice and @Bob. Client response has been incredible. #work #launch #team-effort

Set importance to High for career-defining wins and Medium for solid accomplishments.

Tips for Effective Highlights

1. Capture It Now

Write highlights the same day they happen. Details fade quickly, and the emotional context is freshest right after the moment.

2. Include Sensory Details

What did you see, hear, or feel? Specific details make highlights vivid when you revisit them months later.

3. Tag People Involved

Use @mentions generously. When you look back, knowing who shared the moment with you adds meaning.

4. Use Importance Honestly

Not everything is High importance. Giving most highlights a Medium or Low rating makes the truly significant ones stand out.

5. Star the Best

Combine starring with importance for a two-tier system: importance rates the event, starring marks the entries you want to revisit most.

6. Review Monthly

Browse your highlights at the end of each month. You will often find you had a better month than you remembered.

Highlights are one of the most rewarding workspaces to revisit over time. A few minutes of writing today becomes a meaningful record of your life.
