Dreams
The Dreams workspace is where you capture your aspirations, goals, and visions for the future. Unlike Highlights which look backward at what happened, Dreams look forward at what could be.
Dreams in Reflecto are not about sleep — they are about ambition. Write down the life you want to build, the goals you want to achieve, and the person you want to become.
Purpose
Dreams give your aspirations a permanent home:
- Long-term goals — Where you want to be in five or ten years
- Bucket list items — Experiences you want to have in your lifetime
- Career visions — The professional future you are working toward
- Personal growth — Skills to learn, habits to build, traits to develop
- Life design — How you want your daily life to look and feel
Metadata
Dreams are intentionally minimal. Beyond the shared fields (title, content, tags, people, date), there are no additional metadata fields.
This is by design. Dreams are about open-ended expression, not categorization. The content itself tells the full story.
Use tags to organize your dreams by theme. Tags like #career, #travel,
#health, or #creative help you group related aspirations when browsing
later.

Write Your Dream
Describe your aspiration in as much detail as you want. Be specific about what success looks like.
# Learn to sail
I want to learn to sail well enough to take a small boat
out on my own. Not racing, not crossing oceans -- just the
freedom of being on the water with the wind.
By next summer, I want to:
- Complete a basic sailing course
- Crew on someone else's boat at least 5 times
- Take a solo day trip on a rented boat
@Dad sailed when he was younger. I should ask him about it.

Your dream saves automatically. Revisit and expand it whenever inspiration strikes.
The Dreams Workspace Page
Navigate to Dreams in the sidebar or go to /dreams to view all your dream entries.
What You See
- Entry cards sorted by date, newest first
- Content preview showing the opening lines of each dream
- Tags and people displayed on each card
- Star indicator on starred entries
The Dreams workspace is a simple, scrollable list. Since dreams have no additional metadata, the focus is entirely on the content.

1. Be Specific
“I want to be healthier” is a wish. “I want to run 3 times a week and cook 5 dinners at home” is a dream you can act on.
2. Include the Why
Write down why this dream matters to you. When motivation fades, the why brings it back.
3. Revisit and Update
Dreams are living documents. Come back to them periodically. Add progress notes, adjust timelines, or acknowledge when a dream has changed.
4. Use Tags for Themes
Tag dreams by life area: #career, #health, #relationships, #creative, #financial. This lets you see all dreams in a category at a glance.
5. Star Your Top Priorities
You will likely have more dreams than you can pursue at once. Star the ones you are actively working toward to separate them from the longer-term list.
6. Connect Dreams to Action
Reference people who can help (@Mentor, @Coach) and tag related projects. Dreams are more likely to become reality when connected to your daily life.
The act of writing a dream down makes it more real. Research consistently shows that people who write their goals are significantly more likely to achieve them.
Dreams vs. Journal Entries
| Use Dreams for… | Use Journal for… |
|---|---|
| Forward-looking aspirations | Daily reflections on what happened |
| Goals and plans | Processing emotions and events |
| Bucket list items | Gratitude and mood tracking |
| Long-term visions | Daily logs and routines |
When in doubt, ask: “Am I reflecting on the past or imagining the future?” Past goes in Journal. Future goes in Dreams.
