Appearance & Display
Customize how Reflecto looks and feels. These settings control the visual theme, typography, navigation behavior, content layout, and language.
Theme
Choose between three theme modes in Settings > Display.
System
System (default) — Follows your operating system’s appearance setting. If your OS switches between light and dark mode on a schedule, Reflecto switches automatically.
Theme changes take effect immediately — no page reload required.
Font Family
Select a font for the editor and main content area from a curated whitelist:
| Font | Style | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| System Default | Matches your OS | Consistency with native apps |
| Inter | Clean sans-serif | General writing |
| Georgia | Classic serif | Long-form prose |
| Merriweather | Modern serif | Comfortable reading |
| Fira Code | Monospace | Technical notes |
The font setting applies to the editor and entry content. Navigation and UI elements use the system font for consistency.
Auto-Hide Navigation
Setting: Auto-Hide Navigation (default: off)
When enabled, the sidebar collapses automatically on content-focused pages like Write and Reflect, giving you a full-width writing area.
- The sidebar slides out of view when you navigate to a content page
- Hover over the left edge or click the menu icon to temporarily reveal it
- The sidebar stays visible on management pages like Tags, People, and Settings
Enable this if you prefer distraction-free writing, use keyboard shortcuts, or work on a smaller screen. Leave it off if you switch between workspaces frequently.
Linked Items Display
Setting: Linked Items Display (default: Card)
Controls how linked context items appear below your entries in the editor. Linked items include entries from the same date, entries sharing tags, and entries mentioning the same people.
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Card | Visual cards with preview text, entry type badge, and date. Easier to scan but takes more space. |
| List | Compact rows with title and date. Fits more items on screen with less detail. |
Special Dates
Setting: Special Dates (default: on)
When enabled, the calendar and journal views display indicators for holidays and notable dates. The feature uses your selected language/locale to determine which holidays to show. Turn this off for a cleaner calendar with only your own entry indicators.
Language
Setting: Language (default: English)
Reflecto supports ten languages for the interface:
| Code | Language | Code | Language |
|---|---|---|---|
en | English | ko | Korean |
es | Spanish | zh | Chinese |
fr | French | ar | Arabic |
de | German | pt | Portuguese |
ja | Japanese | hi | Hindi |
The language setting changes navigation labels, buttons, and system messages. Your entry content is never translated — you can write in any language regardless of this setting.
Tips
- Pair dark theme with auto-hide navigation for the most immersive writing experience during evening sessions.
- Use the System theme if your OS already switches between light and dark on a schedule — Reflecto follows along automatically.
- Try both linked items modes to find your preference. Card mode suits fewer connections; list mode scales better.
